ABOUT SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO: Santa Fe lies in the north-central region of New Mexico, adjacent to the Sangre de Christo Mountains. It is the state capital and home to some of the oldest buildings and churches in the USA. Four flags have flown over the city of Santa Fe: Spanish, Mexican, Confederate, and United States. With the advent of the Santa Fe Trail, and later the railroad, Anglo-Saxon cultural influences would profoundly alter the city in the 19th and 20th centuries, from the founding of artists' colonies to the birth of the atomic age.
